The problem

Can you trust your asset register?

Most organisations hold a register of thousands or tens of thousands of assets. Far fewer can say with confidence whether the data inside it is accurate, consistent, complete and fit for the decisions being made against it.

Registers accumulate. Systems get migrated, consultants come and go, conventions change, fields get skipped under time pressure, and assets are added by different people over many years. None of that is unusual — but it means a register can quietly drift away from reality while still looking complete on screen.

The Asset Register Health Check is an independent review of the data you already hold. We analyse the register you supply, identify the issues sitting inside it, and set out what to do about them, in priority order. It is a desktop review and analysis, not a physical inspection.

What we check

Four areas, examined across your whole register.

We work through the supplied data systematically rather than sampling it, so findings reflect the register as a whole.

Completeness

What is missing, and what it stops you doing

  • Missing or incomplete asset attributes
  • Condition data gaps
  • Useful-life data gaps
  • Gaps that may affect renewal planning
  • Gaps that may affect lifecycle planning

Consistency

Whether the register follows its own rules

  • Inconsistent asset classifications
  • Inconsistent naming conventions
  • Inconsistent data formats
  • Asset category inconsistencies
  • Inconsistent asset hierarchies

Accuracy and anomalies

Records that do not stand up to scrutiny

  • Duplicate or potentially duplicated assets
  • Installation and commissioning date anomalies
  • Asset age anomalies
  • Unusual or outlier values
  • Suspicious or illogical records

Financial and spatial

Valuation and location data, where supplied

  • Financial and valuation anomalies
  • Potential GIS and location inconsistencies
  • Broader data quality risks
  • Areas requiring further investigation

Your Asset Health Score

One number, and the eight that explain it.

Every register is scored out of 100 so the result is easy to communicate to a manager, an executive or a council. The category breakdown shows exactly where the score comes from.

74

Overall health: Moderate

Example only. A moderate result typically means the register is usable for day-to-day work but carries gaps that will distort renewal forecasting and valuation until they are addressed.

What you receive

The KLAM Asset Register Health Check Report.

A written report you can put in front of a manager or an audit committee, not a spreadsheet of error codes.

Key findings

The issues that matter most, ranked by their effect on decision-making. An example set of findings looks like this:

  1. Condition data gaps
  2. Potential duplicate assets
  3. Installation date anomalies
  4. Inconsistent asset classifications
  5. Missing useful-life information

Recommended actions

Each finding carries a practical recommendation, grouped so you know what to do first.

Priority 1

Immediate. Issues that are actively distorting reporting, valuation or renewal forecasting and should be resolved now.

Priority 2

Near term. Improvements to schedule into the next data or inspection cycle.

Priority 3

Monitor. Longer-term data management practices and items to keep an eye on as the register grows.

Pricing

From $1 per asset, minimum $1,000.

Pricing is based on the number of assets reviewed, so you know the cost before you commit. No day rates, no scope creep.

Indicative Health Check
$5,000

Indicative only. We confirm scope and price after reviewing a sample of your register. Registers with unusual structures, multiple source systems or additional requirements may need a customised quotation.

Scope

What the standard Health Check does not include.

The Health Check reviews and analyses the data you supply. It is deliberately bounded, which is what keeps it quick and affordable.

  • Physical asset inspections
  • Detailed engineering assessments
  • Formal valuations
  • GIS field verification
  • Full asset register reconstruction
  • Extensive manual data cleansing
  • Individual asset research
  • Physical condition assessments

Where the review identifies a need for any of the above, we can quote them separately as follow-on projects — inspections, condition assessment, valuations and data remediation are all services we deliver in-house.

What happens next

Five steps, start to finish.

1

Submit your register

Send an export in whatever format your system produces. We will tell you if anything else is needed.

2

We analyse the data

The full register is assessed across completeness, consistency, accuracy, financial and spatial measures.

3

Issues and risks identified

Anomalies, gaps and duplicates are isolated, quantified and traced back to the records they affect.

4

Report delivered

You receive the Health Check Report with your score, key findings and prioritised recommendations.

5

You decide what matters

Use the priorities to plan your next move, whether that is internal work or a follow-on project with us.

From Health Check to asset improvement

A low-risk place to start.

Most organisations do not need a full asset management program on day one. They need to know what condition their data is in. The Health Check answers that, and everything after it is optional.
